BUTTERMILK BISCUITS 
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
1/3 c. buttermilk

Combine first 5 ingredients, mixing well. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead lightly 8-10 times. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 1 dozen.
