COCONUT MERINGUE BARS 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. flaked coconut
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 c. brown sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat flour, sugar, 1/2 cup brown sugar, the butter, baking powder, egg yolks, vanilla, baking soda and salt on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, for 2 minutes. Press in an oblong pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Set aside. Beat egg whites until foamy. Beat in 1 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, continue beating until stiff and glossy. Spread over mixture in pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool, cut into bars about 3 x 1 inches.
