BREAD PUDDING | |
1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 3 c. milk, scalded 1/2 c. raisins, moist 1/4 tsp. salt 3 eggs 2 tbsp. soft butter 5-6 slices bread (2-3 days old) Butter 10 x 6 1/2 x 1 3/4 inch glass baking dish. Place oven rack 7 inches from bottom. Preheat to 350 degrees. Lightly toast bread, then butter, cut into quarters and layer into dish. Sprinkle raisins between slices. Scald milk, beat eggs lightly in 2-quart bowl. Add salt and all but 2 tablespoons sugar. Add milk and vanilla, pour over bread. Soak 10 minutes. Blend cinnamon and balance of sugar, sprinkle over top. Bake directly on rack 25 to 30 minutes or until top is nicely browned. |
