APPLESAUCE CHOCOLATE BROWNIES 
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sweet applesauce
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nutmeats
2 sqs. chocolate or 1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Add beaten eggs and sugar; beat well. Add applesauce and nuts. Add vanilla and dry ingredients. Mix together and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for 35-40 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, cut in squares while still warm or can be iced with chocolate frosting.
