CHERRY SURPRISE BALLS 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 c. sifted plain flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. ground pecans
1 lb. candied red (or green) cherries

Cream butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. Add flour and vanilla and mix well. Stir in pecans. Chill dough for several hours (until you can work with it by hand without sticking). Pinch off a wad of dough and roll it around the cherry (completely covering it). Place on ungreased cookie sheet and chill for about 15-20 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until light brown. Remove and while still hot, roll in sifted confectioners sugar.
