CHINESE PORK AND TURNIPS | |
1/2 lb. lean pork 3 tbsp. soy sauce 1/2 tsp. fried red onion Dash of MSG Dash of pepper 1/4 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. sweet potato starch 2 c. white turnip (Paiken Reddish) 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. diced green onion 4-6 c. vegetable oil Dice pork in pieces the size of your finger. Add soy sauce, fried red onion, MSG and pepper. Dredge in sweet potato starch. Fry pork in vegetable oil until golden and crispy. Remove to a bowl. Cut turnip into strips. Blend with salt and chopped green pepper. Put in a bowl on top of pork. Add 1/2 cup water. Cover and steam 40 minutes. Drain juices out. Quickly invert bowl onto small serving platter and pour juice over. Serve with rice. |
