CORN LIGHT BREAD 
1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. shortening, melted

Combine first 5 ingredients in a bowl. In another bowl, mix together the buttermilk and egg and add the shortening. Pour liquid mixture into the dry mixture. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan that has been heated. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated 400 degree oven.
