RAISIN SQUARES 
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 scant c. flour
3/4 lb. raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3 tbsp. raisin juice

Cook raisins in water for about 20 minutes. Strain. Reserve 3 tablespoons juice. Mix raisins with flour and add all ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

FROSTING:

Confectione rs' sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Water (to make a thin icing)
