CHRISTMAS EVE CAKE 
1 c. water
1/4 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. raisins
1/4 c. chopped almonds
1/2 c. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sifted flour

Mix together water, raisins, walnuts, and almonds in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add vanilla. Sift together the baking powder and flour and add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Add fruit mixture and blend thoroughly. Pour into a well buttered and floured 8 inch square pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
