CHRISTMAS CAKE COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
3 tbsp. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. self-rising flour
2 c. chopped pecans
2 lb. candied fruit (I use green and red)

Cut up candied fruit and mix with 1 cup flour. Mix sugars, Crisco and eggs, beating well. Add flour and buttermilk alternating. Add vanilla. Hand mix the fruit and pecans into batter. Spoon drop onto cookie sheet (greased). Bake at 250 degrees (or less depending on oven). They are done when they begin to brown.
