CHEWY MERINGUE COOKIES 
3 egg whites
1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tbsp. vanilla

Place egg whites and sugar in double boiler. Beat over boiling water until peaks form. Remove from heat; add dates, nuts, and vanilla. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes (watch carefully). Yields 4 dozen.
