BELGIUM ALMOND COOKIES 
1 (1 lb) box dark brown sugar
1/2 lb (2 sticks) butter
1 egg, slightly beaten

Sift:

2 cups flour, or enough to make a stiff dough that can be rolled
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped almonds

Melt butter and mix with brown sugar, add sifted ingredients. Add egg and nuts. If a little dry, add 1 tablespoon milk. Mix well, form into two rolls and wrap in wax paper. Refrigerate overnight.

Slice 1/4 inch thick.

Bake at 350°F 10 to 12 minutes.
