BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
2 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk

Cream the sugar, shortening and butter together. Beat in eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla. Mix the flour and soda together well. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk into rest of ingredients. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake in 325 degree oven for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours. Cool in pan 10 minutes.
