HUSH PUPPIES 
1 1/2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 c. self-rising flour
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 med. onions, chopped fine
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, mashed

Blend dry ingredients. Add onions; mix well. Add milk; stir in tomatoes. Mixture should be thin enough to roll in ball with teaspoon on side of bowl. After mixing, refrigerate 1 hour before frying. Drop balls of dough at side of pan of hot grease. For best Hush Puppies: Fry in same oil as fish.
