SOUTHERN HUSH PUPPIES FROM
VIRGINIA

Cook together:

1 1/2 cups corn meal
1 1/2 cups water

Remove from heat. Add:

1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped onions

Beat 2 eggs and add to above. Sift together and add:

1 cup flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar

Beat until smooth. Fry at 350°F until done.
