YEAST DOUGHNUTS | |
3 to 3 1/2 c. flour 2 pkg. yeast 3/4 c. milk 1/3 c. sugar 1/4 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs In mixer bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour and yeast. In pan, heat milk, sugar, shortening, and salt until warm. Add to flour; add eggs. Beat 1/2 minute at low, 3 minutes at high. Stir in as much flour as you can. Mix with a spoon. Knead in enough of remaining flour to make a soft dough, that is smooth and elastic. Shape into a ball. Cover; let rise. Divide in half. Roll each half of dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter. Cover; let rise until very light. Glaze with powdered sugar icing or shake in a bag of granulated sugar. |
