CARAMEL ICEBOX COOKIES 
Cream together:

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar

Add:

2 eggs (1 at a time beating well)

Sift and add:

4 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cream of tarter

Mix to stiff dough and add:

2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans

Shape into several rolls and chill for 3 to 4 hours to harden. Slice thin and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
