BLACKBERRY CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. clove
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. blackberries (may be canned)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Sift dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk. Fold in berries last. Pour in desired proper shaped pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. Cool. Frost with Caramel Icing.
