IRISH SODA BREAD | |
4 c. flour 1 c. sugar 4 tsp. baking powder 1/4 c. caraway seeds 1 c. seedless raisins 3 eggs 2 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. baking soda Sift flour and sugar and baking powder together. Mix well. Add caraway seeds, mix well. Add raisins, mix well. Make a well in the dry mix and add well- beaten eggs. Then beat baking soda in with buttermilk until it foams. Add to mixture and stir thoroughly. Turn into 2 greased and floured loaf pans. Let stand in pans for 5 minutes before putting into preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 1 hour. Makes a nice "tea loaf." |
