JAM CAKE 
5 whole eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
3 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. raisins (I use more)
1/2 c. nuts (I use more)
1 c. blackberry jam
1 c. strawberry jam
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. allspice

Cream butter, add sugar, and beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs, seine flour before measuring (some saved to mix with nuts and raisins), add spices and salt to flour. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add flour, spices and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, then jams, nuts and raisins.

Cook in angel food pan lined with brown paper and wax paper at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours, or in layer pan greased and lined with just wax paper for 40 to 45 minutes at 325 degrees.

ICING:

1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. milk

Cook 3 minutes, if doubled, cook 5 1/2 to 6 minutes.
