LASAGNA 
6 strips lasagne noodles
2 tbsp butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. (6 oz can) tomato sauce
2 1/2 c. (1 lb. 4 oz. can) tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. dried basil, crumbled
1/2 lb. cottage cheese
1/2 lb. swiss cheese
1/4 c. parmesan cheese
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/8 tsp. garlic powder

Cook lasagna in 4 quarts salted boiling water until tender. Stirring occasionally with wooden spoon. Drain and rinse with hot water. Separate lasagna and hang over edge of colander or pan for easier handling later.

While lasagna is cooking melt butter in large skillet. Add onion and garlic and cook about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and cook slowly stirring frequently until all red color disappears from meat. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Grease an 8 inch square baking dish. Layer meat sauce, noodles, cottage cheese, swiss and parmesan cheese using 1/3 of each. Repeat layers twice to use all the ingredients topping last with parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.
