100 YEAR OLD OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, soft
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 1/2 c. white flour
1 c. oatmeal
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts and/or
1 c. raisins, optional

Mix together the first 4 ingredients. Mix together the flour, oatmeal, soda and cream of tartar. Combine both with vanilla until well blended. Add nuts or raisins or both if desired. Roll in balls and place on cookie sheets. Bake for 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 5 dozen.
