ORIGINAL BOSTON BAKED BEANS 
1 lb. California white or pea beans
1/2 lb. salt pork
4 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. molasses
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 med. onion

Soak beans overnight. Parboil 10 minutes with 1 teaspoon baking soda. Rinse with cold water. Dice pork into 1 inch squares. Put half on bottom with onion. Next put beans and rest of pork. Mix other ingredients with hot water. Pour over beans. Bake in 300 degree oven for 6 hours. Be sure to keep beans slightly covered with liquid at all times.
