APPLE CAKE - DANISH EBLEKAGE 
2 c. crumbs (bread, cake or combination)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 1/2 c. tart applesauce (commercial or home made; smooth or chunky)
1 c. whipping cream
2 tbsp. sugar
Red jelly or jam for decoration

Brown crumbs in skillet with 1 tablespoon sugar and butter. Arrange crumb mixture and apple sauce in alternate layers in glass serving dish. Chill in refrigerator. Whip the cream with 2 tablespoons sugar for topping and decorate with dabs of jelly. For crunchy texture, serve immediately after preparation. Advance preparation will create a moist, delicious blend of layers. This dessert looks elegant served in a crystal 1 1/2 or 2 quart bowl.
