ITALIAN BREAD SALAD | |
1 1/2 c. oil 1/2 c. white or red wine vinegar 2 1/2 tsp. finely chopped garlic 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper 1 lg. crusty loaf Italian bread, sliced 1/2" & torn into 1" pieces 5-6 firm ripe med. tomatoes, cut into 1/2" chunks 1 med. red onion (cut in half & sliced thin) 3 loosely packed c. fresh basil leaves or 2 tsp. dry basil leaves Whisk oil, vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl, until blended. Add the rest of the ingredients and toss until coated. May be refrigerated prior to serving or serve right after tossing. |
