1 1/2 c. corn meal
1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 sm. onion, chopped fine
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients. Add onion. Add beaten egg and milk to dry ingredients, stirring lightly. Drop a teaspoon of batter for each puppy into hot deep fat (360 degrees) drying only a few at a time. Fry until golden brown, drain and serve hot.
