1/2 c. milk 3 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. water 1 egg 3 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 pkg. yeast 3 1/4 c. flour Scald milk, add sugar, butter and salt. Cool mixture to lukewarm by adding water and yeast. Put these in a large bowl. Add egg and mix. Add half of flour, mix well. Add remaining flour and mix until well blended. Roll out on floured board to about 12 x 18 inches. Spread with softened butter, spread on filling (peach, or apricot preserves, canned apples, cherry or peach). Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, pecans and coconut. Roll and pinch edges to seal. Place in greased pan. Cut slits in top. Let rise 1 hour in warm place. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown. While still warm, but not hot, ice with 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons melted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla and a little milk. |
