ITALIAN CREME CAKE | |
1 stick butter 2 c. sugar 2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour 1 c. nuts, chopped 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten 1 c. buttermilk 2 c. shortening 5 egg yolks 1 tsp. vanilla 1 sm. can coconut 1 tsp. baking soda Combine butter and shortening, add sugar. Beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased and floured 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 35 minutes or until done. 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/2 stick butter 1 box powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. nuts, chopped |
