OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/8 c. (2 tbsp.) water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. dry milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. uncooked oatmeal
1/2 c. wheat germ
1 c. carob chips, walnuts, sunflower seeds, raisins, coconut or any combination

Put shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla in a bowl and beat well. Sift dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture; mix well. Blend in oatmeal, wheat germ and chips, nuts, seeds or coconut.

Drop from a teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes at 325 degrees.
