1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
3-4 c. flour

Mix of any cookie of this type. Roll out and cut into large rounds about the size of a number two tin can. Makes 48 large cookies.

Bake 15 minutes in 350 degree oven. Butter instead of shortening. I sprinkled a little sugar over each cookie before baking.
