ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
3/4 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. candy orange slices (chopped)
1 (8 oz.) package chopped dates
2 c. chopped pecans
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
1/2 c. orange juice
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar

Prepare ahead:

Chop orange slices and dates in 3 c. flour, to coat. The other 1/2 c. flour mixed with the 1/2 tsp. salt.

Cream butter, add sugar and stir. Add beaten eggs. Add buttermilk and soda. Add orange slices and dates with flour, pecans and coconut.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until done. (check)

Mix the orange juice and powdered sugar. Put on hot cake for a glaze. We bake this for a fruit cake at Christmas. Very good.
