MOLASSES CRACKLE COOKIES 
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, egg, sugar, and molasses. Set aside. Combine remaining ingredients well in a separate bowl. Add to molasses mixture. Stir well with wooden spoon. Roll into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 5-8 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while warm.
