2 tbsp. salad oil 1 1/2 lbs. sirloin, cut in diagonal strips 1/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. water 3/4 c. soy sauce 3 sm. onions, thinly sliced 1 sm. green pepper, sliced thin 6 stalks celery, sliced diagonal 1 (10 oz.) can water chestnuts, sliced 1 (10 oz.) can bamboo shoots, sliced 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced 1 bunch green onions with tops Place oil in skillet, add meat and brown slightly. Combine sugar, water, and soy sauce. Add 1/2 of mixture to meat. Push meat to one side of skillet and add sliced onion, green pepper and celery. Cook for several minutes. Add remaining soy sauce, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts and mushrooms. Cook about 5 minutes longer. Add green onions and cook 1 minute. Stir and serve over rice. |
