POPPY SEED CAKE 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. poppy seed, soaked in 3/4 c. milk for 3 hours or less
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
4 egg whites, beaten

Mix in order given. Bake in greased and floured layer pans (2) or 9 x 13 inch pan, at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

CUSTARD:

4 egg yolks
3/4 c. sugar
2 c. milk
2 tbsp. cornstarch

Remove from heat and add:

Cool and spread on cake top with walnuts.
