SUGAR TO HONEY CONVERSION CHART | |
When substituting sugar for honey in baking, follow these simple rules. Lower oven temperature to prevent over-browning. Reduce liquid (milk, water, etc.) and add leavening, if required. 1/4 cup sugar = 3 tbsp. honey: Reduce oven temperature by 25°F. 1/3 cup sugar = 3 tbsp. + 1 tsp. honey: Reduce oven temperature by 25°F. 1/2 cup sugar = 1/3 cup honey: Add 1/4 tsp. baking soda; reduce potential liquid by 1 tbsp.; reduce oven temperature by 25°F. 1 cup sugar = 3/4 cup honey: Add 1/2 tsp. baking soda; reduce potential liquid by 2 tbsp.; reduce oven temperature by 25°F. 2 cups sugar = 1 cup + 6 tbsp. honey: Add 1 tsp. baking soda; reduce potential liquid by 1/4 cup; reduce oven temperature by 25°F. |
