OATMEAL GINGERSNAPS 
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. Quick Quaker oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg

Put about 1/2 cup sugar in a shallow bowl to roll balls of cookie dough in. Stir together first 6 ingredients. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt. Blend in molasses and egg. Beat well for 2 minutes with electric mixer.

Form into balls and roll in granulated sugar. Put on greased cookie sheet, about 12 on each sheet. I alternate 2 sheets. Press down with fork. Bake 8-10 minutes in 350 degree oven. Top will crackle. Reduce heat a little with succeeding pans. If you remove cookies from oven a little earlier, they will be softer.
