OATMEAL - RAISIN BREAD 
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
2 tsp. double acting baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. uncooked rolled oats
1 c. seedless raisins
1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk

Start heating oven to 350 degrees. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Add oats and raisins. With spoon, cream together shortening and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and buttermilk. Add milk mixture in thirds to flour mixture, stirring until blended after each addition. Place in greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. Bake 1 hour or until done.
