NAVAJO SQUAW FRY BREAD 
3 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/3 c. warm water
3/4 c. lard or shortening
Salt, if desired

First mix the ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder. Mix with water, then knead until the dough is soft. Then put the lard in the frying pan until it is quite hot. Take a piece and spread it out. Then put it in the pan.

The bread should be round and thin like a tortilla before dropping in hot fat. When done, it should be puffed up and golden.
