HUNGARIAN LEKVARE CAKE 
6 c. flour
1 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 lb. (2 c.) Crisco
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

FILLING:

2 lb. lekvar (3 jars Bakers prune filling)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 lb. chopped walnuts (save some for top)

Rub flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and shortening together as for pie crust. Add beaten egg to milk and vanilla; mix rest of ingredients to make a soft dough. Do not knead. Take 1/3 of dough and roll 1/4 inch thick.

Line cookie sheet and spread with 1/2 of filling. Make another layer of dough and place on top. Spread with remaining filling. Make another layer of dough and place on top. Brush with slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with some ground nuts and sugar. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Cook and cut into squares. Very rich. Make squares about 1 inch.
