BAKED ACORN SQUASH 
2 acorn squash
1/2 tsp. salt
2 apples, peeled and sliced
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. broken crackers
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. coarsely chopped pecans
4 pecan or walnut halves, for garnish

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut each squash in half; remove seeds and fibers. Season with salt. Mix apples with lemon juice and combine with remaining ingredients. Heap 1/4 of filling mixture in cavity of each squash; place in a baking dish. Add water to dish to form a 1/4 inch layer. Cover dish with aluminum foil and bake 50-60 minutes.
