BAKED ACORN SQUASH 
2 med. acorn squash
1 lg. unpared tart red apple, diced
2 tbsp. chopped nuts
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
4 tbsp. butter

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cut each squash lengthwise in half; remove seeds and fibers. Place cut sides down in rectangular baking dish, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Pour water into dish to 1/4 inch depth. Bake 30 minutes.

Mix apple, nuts and brown sugar. Turn squash halves cut side up. Spoon apple mixture in squash halves. Top each with 1 tablespoon butter. Bake 30 minutes longer. Serves 4.
