APRICOT BRAN SCONES 
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
1/4 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
2 c. bran flakes cereal
4 tbsp. butter
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped moist packed dried apricots or prunes

In a bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and bran flakes. With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in eggs, milk and apricots or prunes. Turn out onto floured board and knead about 6 times. Divide dough into thirds.

On a greased baking sheet, pat each third into a 5-inch circle about 1/2 inch thick. With a floured knife, cut each round into 6 wedges; leave in place. Bake in middle of a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Separate wedges before serving. Makes 18 scones.
