HUNTER STEW 
3 lb. venison roast, cut into 1 inch pieces
Salt
6 lg. carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
3 tbsp. bacon fat
1 bay leaf
1 sm. head cabbage, cut into 8 pieces
Pepper
6 med. potatoes, cut into 1 inch pieces
Hot water
3 lg. onions, cut into lg. pieces

Brown meat in hot bacon fat in Dutch oven. Add enough water to just cover meat, salt and pepper to taste, and simmer for 1 hour covered. Add bay leaf, carrots, then simmer 30 minutes more.
