“JACK DANIELS BOURBON PECAN PIE” IS IN:

JACK DANIELS BOURBON PECAN PIE 
This is a favorite during Thanksgiving holidays.

2 grade A large eggs (slightly beaten)
1/4 cup dark Karo syrup
3/4 cup sugar
4 teaspoons corn starch
8 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup Jack Daniels bourbon
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
1 bag pecan halves

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Mix eggs and Karo.

Combine sugar and corn starch, add to egg mixture.

Melt chocolate and butter, cool. Add bourbon and combine with egg mixture. Beat together in mixer on slow speed.

Pour into a 9 inch unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle evenly with pecan halves.

Bake on cookie sheet for one hour. Pie should be firm and will "set-up" while cooling.

Note: If this is made using other brands of bourbon it may not taste as good. Toucan use the premade tart shells for easier handling at parties and social gatherings.

To make an impressive looking pie, lay the pecan halves on top in a circle around the edge and keep making circles until the pie top is covered rather then sprinkling them on top.

I think we need to get the folks arguing over TN/KY bourbon/whiskey to try multiple shots of each. My guess is, they won't really mind compromising after they sample each a few times.
I have made this recipe with HUGE success each and every time I make it. That's one thing that has never been challenged; it is universally considered a-w-e-s-o-m-e.

Bourbon can be made anywhere in the U.S., but all but a couple of brands are made in Kentucky. Only the state of Kentucky can produce bourbon with its name on the label. The name comes from Bourbon county in the central bluegrass region of Kentucky. This county was named in 1785 to honor the French royal family and was once the major transshipment site for shipping distilled spirits down the Ohio and Mississippi rivers to New Orleans. Barrels shipped from there were stamped with the county's name, which then became the name of this kind of whiskey. Interestingly, there are no distillers in Bourbon county, Kentucky right now.

Whiskey is any alcohol distilled from grain mash. Bourbon is a whiskey that is made from a grain mash containing a minimum of 51% corn (although virtually all bourbons are made from at least 66% corn), aged for at least two years in new charred oak barrels, and with an alcoholic content no more than 80% (160 proof). A common misnomer is that there cannot be more than 79% corn in a bourbon - this is inaccurate.

All bourbons are Whiskeys. Jack Daniel's is a Tennessee Whiskey, which is a type of bourbon.

The distillery itself does claim that Jack Daniel's is not a bourbon because it is charcoal filtered (see JD FAQ), but this is irrelevant, as there is no such legal stipulation and there are other bourbons that are charcoal filtered as well.

Bourbons are at least 51% corn, aged in charred oak (1 use only) for at least 3yrs. They cannot be charcoal filtered (which Jack is) for "mellowing". It has nothing to do with being from Ky (though the whiskey from Bourbon, Ky which did meet these criteria ended up in New Orleans and were stamped Bourbon on the barrels.

I used a deep dish pie crust and it boiled over. I layed out my pecans to make a beautiful circular design... it was ruined! Did anyone else have a problem with it boiling over?
