HOBO BREAD 
4 tsp. baking soda
2 c. dark raisins
2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. oil
2 c. boiling water
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix baking soda and water together and pour over raisins. Let stand overnight without stirring. Next morning, sift together flour, sugar, salt and stir into raisins. Add oil. Batter will be thick.

Grease and flour (3) 1 pound coffee cans. Put 1/3 of the batter into each can. (Cans will be about half full). Leaving top of can open for baking, bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour - reduce heat to 325 degrees to 325 degrees; bake for another 1/2 hour. Near the end of baking, cover the open cans with foil to prevent excessive browning. To cool, lay cans on side and turn occasionally to loosen bread.
