MOM'S APPLE COBBLER 
1/2 c. butter

Melt in baking pan. 2 c. water

Heat in pan together. 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour 1/3 c. milk

Cut shortening and flour up fine, add milk; knead until smooth. Roll out 1/4 inch. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon cinnamon over 2 cups finely chopped apples then sprinkle mix over dough. Roll up dough like a jelly roll. Slice dough in 16 slices 1/2 inch thick and place in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar water over roll. Bake 55-60 minutes. Other fruit or berries may be used.
