MOTHER'S APPLE CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
4 c. chopped apples, peeled
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp baking soda
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, apples, and nuts; mix well. Combine salt, cinnamon, baking soda, and flour. Combine butter sugar mixture and dry ingredients and mix by hand. Put batter into a 9 x 13 well greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve by pouring the following hot sauce recipe over the cake.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. half and half

In sauce pan, melt butter and while stirring add sugars. When mixed, add half and half, stirring, and bring to the boiling point. Serve immediately.
