VEGETABLE PEA SOUP 
1 lg. potato
2 carrots
2 stalks celery
1/2 sm. onion
2 qt. water
1/2 c. dry split peas
1 tbsp. fat
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 med. head cabbage

Cut up potato, carrots, celery, and onion. Bring water to boil. Add dry split peas, fat, salt, pepper and vegetables, EXCEPT cabbage. Cook for 45 minutes. Cut up cabbage. Add cabbage and cook 15 minutes more. Serves 6.
