IRISH SCONES
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 stick butter (cold)
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. raisins

Mix together in large bowl the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Cut cold butter into small pieces. Add to flour mixture. Cut with pastry blender until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in sugar and raisins. Add milk and gently mix until blended. Dough will be sticky. Drop on ungreased cookie sheets (about the size of tennis ball). Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly brown. Makes about 16 scones.
