1 box 4X sugar
3 sticks butter
3 c. plus 2 tbsp. sifted cake flour
6 lg. eggs
1/4 c. water
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each. Add 1 cup flour, blend well. Add water, blend well. Add 1 cup flour, blend well. Add 1 tablespoon flavoring, blend well. Add 1 cup flour, blend well. Pour into well-greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
